Patients with eligible common conditions may be assessed under NHS Pharmacy First. The pharmacist will determine whether the service is appropriate and advise on treatment, self-care, referral or escalation.
Eligible patients may access blood pressure checks through the pharmacy where the service is currently available and appropriate.
The pharmacy can discuss contraception support and emergency contraception. Patients are assessed individually, and referral may be needed where another service is more appropriate.
Eligible patients starting a new medicine for a long-term condition may be supported through the NHS New Medicine Service where criteria are met.
Vaccination and travel-health appointments are assessment-led. Patients should be directed to book or call to discuss their needs, particularly where timing before travel matters.
Private pharmacist appointments are available for selected concerns. They are not a substitute for emergency, urgent or ongoing GP care; advice, treatment, supply and onward referral depend on assessment.
